Ship arrives 7:00 AM. Liverpool is full of character and is Britain’s most filmed city outside of London—parts of it have doubled as Dublin, Paris, Moscow and Venice. Its biggest claim to fame is its identity as home of the Beatles. Overnight in Liverpool.
Liverpool was Britain’s major port city in the days of the empire. It was also where more than 9 million emigrants departed on their voyage to the New World. Ship departs 11:00 PM.
Ship arrives 9:00 AM. Located along the Irish Sea, the Isle of Man and its wooded hills and jagged coastline offer some of the country’s most spectacular scenery. The island was once occupied by Celts who left behind Iron Age forts and huts. Visit the Calf of Man bird sanctuary, and Castle Rushen at Castletown, the former capital. Ship departs 8:00 PM.
Ship arrives 7:00 AM. The capital of Northern Ireland is an industrial city that was once synonymous with sectarian violence, but that has changed and Belfast has emerged as a growing cultural center. It is from this port the Titanic sailed. Ship departs 10:00 PM.
Ship arrives 7:30 AM. The bustling port town of Greenock is most notable for its proximity to Glasgow, though you can easily fill a day with such attractions as Oak Mall, the largest shopping area in Greenock, and the McLean Museum, where visitors can learn about shipbuilding. The Esplanade is the town’s beautiful walkway that connects the waterfront to the town center. Ship departs 9:00 PM.
Ship arrives 8:00 AM. This is the entryway to the area around Inverness (gateway to the Highlands) and Loch Ness. Take your binoculars with you – maybe Nessie will make an appearance! Ship leaves 7:00 PM.
Ship arrives 11:00 AM. Dundee is a City of Discovery. The city’s textile heritage provides inspiration for one of its principal tourist attractions – Verdant Works. The city has a close association with the sea and is home port of the Royal Research Ship Discovery, today a floating museum. Stroll along the quayside from Discovery Point to come across the HM Frigate Unicorn, the oldest British-Built ship afloat. Ship leaves 9:00 PM.
Ship arrives 2:30 PM. The Old Town of Edinburgh reverberates with the history of Scottish royalty and romantic literary figures. Crossing Princes Street and glimpsing Edinburgh Castle towering over the New Town is like passing through a time warp to the late 1700s. Ship overnights.
Tourists flock there every summer to partake of the extraordinarily vibrant atmosphere of the Edinburgh Festival—it’s the world’s biggest performing-arts festival (really, five distinct festivals in one) Ship overnights.
